Overview

One team for the terminal, the ramp, the garage and the roadway.

An airport is several facilities in one: public concourses, secured areas behind the checkpoints, ramps and service roads, parking garages and the roadway out front. Each has its own rules about who may enter and its own camera coverage needs. Harb designs systems that treat them as one property.

Our work at Cleveland Hopkins, Muhammad Ali International in Louisville and John Glenn Columbus covers cameras, access control and alarms, installed around flight schedules by badged crews and coordinated with airport security staff. The same approach fits transit centers, bus garages and rail stations.

What an airport needs protected

  • Concourses and checkpoints

Wide, gap-free coverage of public halls, screening lanes and gate areas that lets staff review an incident in minutes.

  • Secured and sterile areas

Readers, locks and alarms on every door between public and secured space, tied to the airport's credential system.

  • Garages and roadways

Barrier gates, inductive loops, plate capture and cameras that keep traffic moving and record every vehicle.

  • Ramps and fence lines

Long-range and PTZ cameras with perimeter lighting on the airfield side and along service roads.

  • Fire and life safety

Fire alarm systems designed, installed and inspected to code across terminals and support buildings.

  • Central operations

Recorders, video walls and networks sized for hundreds of cameras and years of growth.

How Harb delivers at an airport

The same four steps as every Harb project, planned around badging, escorts and flight schedules.

  1. Step 1: Survey with your security office

We walk the property with airport security and operations staff, review existing systems and note badging, escort and work-hour requirements before anything is designed.

  2. Step 2: Design and written proposal

Every camera, reader, gate and loop is placed on drawings of the facility, phased around flight schedules and priced in writing.

  3. Step 3: Phased installation around operations

Badged Harb crews install in phases, often overnight, so checkpoints, gates and lanes stay open. Nothing is cut over until the replacement is proven.

  4. Step 4: Training and ongoing support

We train your security office and operations staff, document every device and stay on call for service, expansions and inspections.

FAQ

Questions about airport and transit security

Still have a question? Call (440) 783-0216 and talk to a technician, not a call center.

  • Have you worked at an airport before?

Yes. Harb is the complete security provider for Cleveland Hopkins International Airport and has delivered systems at Muhammad Ali International Airport in Louisville and John Glenn Columbus International Airport. The case studies on this page describe that work.

  • Can you install without closing checkpoints or lanes?

Yes. We phase the work, often overnight, and keep existing systems running until the new ones are tested. Our technicians are used to badging and escort requirements.

  • Do you handle the parking side too?

Yes. Gates, inductive loops, license plate capture, lane cameras and kiosks for garages and surface lots are all Harb product lines.

  • Can your systems tie into what the airport already runs?

Usually. We design around your existing credential system, network and recorders wherever they are worth keeping, and tell you plainly when something should be replaced.

  • Do you work with transit agencies and smaller airfields?

Yes. The same design and installation approach fits regional airports, transit centers, bus garages and rail stations across Ohio and the states around it.
